Book about the Kola Peninsula
In March 2022, the book “With a Fly Rod to the Kola Peninsula” was published, which Mikhail Skopets co-authored with Andrey Sokolov. This is a very useful collection of materials from a practical point of view, professionally and systematically prepared, providing detailed information for those who are interested in fly fishing in the Murmansk region. The book contains chapters on the history, geography, hydrography, ichthyology, ecology and, of course, direct catching of all freshwater fish living on the Kola Peninsula. The book also tells about the peculiarities of organizing tourist trips around the region, and about floating the local rivers and lakes. The high level and depth of the material presented is due to the fact that the authors are literally, and not figuratively, professionals in the areas they are talking about. Most importantly, the book pays considerable attention to environmental issues. Nature is very fragile, and the nature of the North is especially so. In the modern world, human pressure on ecosystems, including aquatic ones, is constantly growing. It is necessary to take this into account and try to solve the problems that arise. All components are important in this matter - from fishermen, who make up a significant part of the population of our country, to the state, and sometimes even international level.
