New Record Taimen on Fly Tackle!
This 37,9 kg (83,4 pounds) fish was landed with a 20 pound test tippet. Probably this is the new flyfishing record. The present IGFA record for the species is 32 kg.
The weight of this one is 46 kg (102 pounds). I think this is the biggest taimen ever landed with a fly; it is even bigger than the current IGFA all-tackle record. The fisherman was using 40 pound test tippet. According the IGFA rules this fish is not considered to be caught with a fly: the tippet of proper fly tackle should not be stronger than 20 pounds. Honestly, I think this rule is obsolete and rather stupid…
