At the Piltun Bay
Piltun Bay in the north-east of the Sakhalin Island is 56 km long and 12 km wide. This brackish water body is mostly shallow. The best fishing is at the outlet connecting the bay with the Sea of Okhotsk.
Old larch trees growing at the sand spit are trimmed by winter storms
I had no idea that in the north of the island there are lizards
We were catching mostly Pacific redfin
Sakhalin flounder is biting flies dragged on the bottom
Marine sculpin
Most of the white-spotted char were not big; for bigger fish I had to cast 30 meters into the bay
Pond smelt was chased by chars to the bank and jumped at the sand
Yury likes the Piltun fishing very much
Alexander, our outfitter, is a great cook Berries at the sand dunes*
These flies were working the best in brackish water
