At the sources of the Selenge River - part 1
From Ulaanbaatar we have first come by air to the big Moron town (capitol of the Khovsogol province), and then by car - to the Ulaan-Uul village. From here we will be going to remote north-west, to the mountains with altitudes over 3000 m. From these mountains begin two famous rivers - Enisey and Selenge.
We are driving without any roads, following obscure car tracks or just across the grass, winding among huge boulders
The cars can not go further, we change them for the horses
We go up the river valley, to the far mountains
Our camp is set at the Mungorag Lake, at the altitude of 2200 meters
Our goal is not this mountain, but the one hiding in the clouds behind it: a taller mountain named Belchir (3351 m)
From the treeline we (our horses) climb higher and higher
Mountain currants with strong and special flavour
Altitude of 3060 meters! From here we will continue on foot.
