Sakhalin Island: Tunaicha Lake, Sea of Okhotsk
On July 12 and 14 I was fishing near the channel connecting the Tunaicha Lake with the Sea of Okhotsk.
The 29 km long Tunaicha Lake is the biggest water body of the Sakhalin Island
This brackish lake has diverse fish fauna. For instance, it hosts a separate stock of Pacific herring.
The lake outlet is 50 meters wide
Today here one could catch mostly anadromous carps called Pacific redfin
I went out into the sea and fished 150 meters from the lake outlet
Here there were greelings
and saffron cod
This is a beautiful fish - silver-spotted sculpin Blepsias cirrhosus
The pink flies were the best; I was using #8 Gotcha
and # 10 streamer out of marabou down
There were no salmon and no char on these 2 days.
