Ul River, Lower Amur
Floating the Ul River - lots of big and small log jams. I have never seen a river with so many dead trees - we had to pass literally hundreds of them. I am glad the boat was chosen correctly - on any other boat the route will be much more difficult and dangerous. It is also good that we have taken bare minimum of the gear.
Log jams are efficiently guarding the fish from the fishermen
A small taimen
Flooded forest
Trophy taimen
The Lower-Amur grayling; the yellow-spotted grayling in not found here
Steller’s sea eagle
Flathead asp
The only 3 km long stretch of the river with no logs
We are going here - all other channels are blocked by the trees
Nowhere to go…
Finally! It is the Japi River; the Orel Lake is not far
The pikes in the Japi are skinny and hungry
