Winter fishing, Yay River
My friend and I have made a trip to the Yay River located in the east of the Khabarovsk region, 700 km from Khabarovsk
We were catching mostly blunt-nose lenok; sharp-nose lenok was totally absent in the catches
It is a doublet – lenok with a jig, grayling with a fly!
Driving a snowmobile on the river ice is risky. Luckily that place with thin ice was not deep.
A primitive wooden winch is helping us to pull the 280-kg machine out of the hole
The Lower-Amur grayling is easy to catch in summer, but in winter this fish is very picky
In our region the fishermen catch grayling with flies during the whole year, and also in winter. The flies are the same, but in most cases they should be smaller than in summer.
Igor is lucky – he has caught a small, 3 kg taimen
